From your CPPW Bargaining Team

CPPW and City bargaining teams were in mediation yesterday. There was no movement towards a tentative contract agreement.

Teams spent the bulk of the day discussing the costing of the contracts. Members can view the final offers from both parties (City and your union) with full bargaining positions, detail, and costing information at the end.

As your union Bargaining Team works to negotiate the various contract details, understanding the methodology of each parties’ cost assumptions can be useful. This is especially important when our final costing and the City’s are so close.

Your CPPW Bargaining Team has costed the final contract offer for the current fiscal year and next (FY 2027-28) at about a 7% increase in the cost of wages and benefits for the bargaining unit compared with last year (FY 2025-26). This is a very reasonable increase considering the value CPPW members provide the City and the fact that the City has not done the necessary work to move us to a step system.

CPPW and the City will be back in mediation next Thursday, Oct 22.

Between now and then, your visibility and your actions are a critical part of keeping the pressure on the City to settle a fair contract.
