Option 1:
My union, @cppwunion, is going on strike on Nov. 9. We want to continue to do our jobs supporting Portlanders, but @portlandgovmayor wants us to take a pay cut by refusing to have our wages keep up with inflation. In this economy?! I don’t think so. We need a strong strike if we are going to get the city to agree to our terms. The stronger the community support, the stronger our strike can be. You can support by donating to the union’s hardship fund, offering supplies and snacks, and showing up on the picket line!
Donate by going to the link in the bio of @cppwunion and follow the account to learn where to show up!
Option 2:
My union, @cppwunion, is going on strike starting Nov. 9! I will be out on the picket line, and I need my community to show up! We will only get fair wages, respect, and a stable future if we fight for it. Support your local city workers by going to the link in the @cppwunion bio and donating, offering supplies, or signing up to join us on the line!

Email to Family/Friends
Hi XX,
Have you been looking for a way to support workers’ rights? Through my job at the City of Portland I am part of the City of Portland Professional Workers Union (CPPW). We recently announced that we are going on strike to fight for fair wages, respect at work, and a secure future.
We need a strong strike if we are going to get the City to agree to our terms. Unlike large national unions, we are independent, which means there is no big national union fund that we can rely on. Instead, we have to raise funds ourselves to support any union member faced with an emergency expense. This is even more important during a strike when we won’t have full pay for as long as the strike lasts.
The stronger the community support, the stronger our strike can be. The stronger our strike, the sooner it ends. That’s why I am emailing to ask you to support me and my colleagues.
How can you support?
- 📣 If in Portland, support the picket line! Sign up to donate food, drinks, or supplies to our picket lines! More opportunities at the community strike support page.
- 💸 Donate to our hardship fund! You can donate through PayPal or through Venmo.
- Join our picket! Follow @cppwunion on Instagram for the updates and meet us at 8 a.m. at City Hall.
- Call Mayor Wilson to let him know you stand with CPPW and the City needs to agree to a fair contract. Call (503) 823-4120. “Mayor Wilson, I am a Portland community member calling to support CPPW. I encourage you to settle this contract.” Want to add details? See our recent press release for ideas.
Thank you for your support. We can’t do it without you!
Calling friends/community members for support
My union, CPPW, is going on strike on Nov. 9. We are fighting for fair compensation, respect, and a stable future.
Our chief concerns are centered around a desire to have a contract that is consistent with our fellow City unions. The City’s current offer fails to include any standard wage increases outside of baseline CPI COLA, longevity pay focused on worker retention, and real compensation for response time during on-call work.
Everyone’s expenses have gone up — my electricity bill has gone up almost 50% in the last 5 years! If we don’t get a fair contract, workers are getting a pay cut in the face of inflation. We deserve fair compensation so we can thrive in the city that we serve.
People can support the union by showing up to a picket line, donating food or supplies, or by donating money to the hardship fund. Text the links:
