Summer 2026 Executive Board Election: Board Position 3

Being on the Executive Board is primarily about contributing to a high functioning team. Sitting on the Executive Board of your union does not require experience or a specific set of skills beyond being able to work effectively with others.  

This is an opportunity to feel empowered, to be able to make a difference during these dark and difficult times. Your union is a place to build or show your leadership, develop a new skill set, keep active in skills you don’t often get to use at work, or use your skills to build a better workplace and a better Portland.

As the Board Position 3 member, you will:

• Be a part of the organization-wide leadership team that makes strategic decisions about our structure, our contract campaigns, our political work, and more.
• Learn how to manage an organization with a group of committed and skillful colleagues.
• Work with the other Board members to determine a work area that you are responsible for.  

Some examples of what your union most needs right now: 

• Internal technology to keep your union functioning! 
• Chair the Communications Committee and/or support your union’s communications work. 
• Database and membership information management 
• Chair the Professional Development Committee or the Political Committee or our Solidarity work. 
• Facilitating General Membership Meetings and other union meetings. 
• Or other work that you are interested in!  

We are a working board meaning that every member has a project or set of tasks that they are responsible for managing.  

Time commitment is flexible, but a typical week, especially during campaigns, is likely a minimum of 5 hours per week. Board meets Monday evenings from 6:30-8pm virtually. (If this timeslot is a dealbreaker for you but you are very interested in the Board, please let us know and we can discuss options.)
